Terms of Service
Last updated · 28 April 2026
The agreement, in plain language
Annum is a personal archive service operated by Jonathan Magnis from Munich, Germany (“we”, “us”). When you create an account or use the service, you agree to these terms. If anything here doesn’t make sense, email the address on the Impressum page and we’ll translate.
Your account
- You. You need to be at least 16 years old to use Annum. One human, one account.
- Sign-in. You can sign in with Google, Apple, or a magic link to your email. Keep that email secure — anyone who reads it can sign in.
- Your archive is yours. You own everything you put into Annum: traces, photos, descriptions, ratings. We claim no rights over your content beyond what is needed to display it back to you and to anyone you choose to share it with.
- Public is public. A trace marked public is visible at annum.life/{username}. Don’t put anything there you wouldn’t want a stranger to read.
What you can't do
Annum is a personal space, not a publishing platform or a content host for hire. Don’t use it to:
- Hurt others. No harassment, no doxxing, no targeted abuse.
- Break the law. No illegal content, no infringing content, no content involving minors that wouldn’t belong in a personal photo album.
- Spam or scrape. No automated mass posting, no scraping public profiles, no using Annum as a backend for an unrelated product.
- Resell. Don’t resell the service, the API, or your account.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. We’ll try to tell you why and give you a chance to export your data, except where the law requires immediate action.
Plans, payment, and refunds
- Free tier. The free tier is genuinely free — no card required, no time-limit trial. Limits are described on the Pricing page and may change as the product matures.
- Paid tiers. Legacy and Lifetime are billed in EUR via our payment provider. Legacy is a recurring subscription (monthly or yearly) that renews automatically; cancel any time from Settings. Lifetime is a one-time payment that grants access for the lifetime of the service.
- Refunds. EU customers have a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Distance Selling Directive. Within that window, contact us for a full refund. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion.
Data, deletion, and shutdown
- Export anytime. Export your full archive as JSON from Settings. Photos export as a separate ZIP.
- Delete anytime. Deleting your account removes your traces, photos, and profile from primary storage within 30 days.
- If we shut down. If Annum is wound down, we’ll give at least 90 days’ notice and provide an export tool before deletion. Lifetime customers will receive that notice in writing.
What we don't promise
Annum is provided “as is”. We try hard to keep it running, your data safe, and the experience pleasant — but we can’t guarantee uninterrupted availability, that the service is fit for any particular purpose, or that we won’t make changes you’d prefer we didn’t. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (e.g. for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health under §309 BGB).
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the product, the law, or our subprocessors change. Material changes are surfaced in-app and the date at the top is updated. Continuing to use Annum after a change means you accept the new terms; if you don’t, you can export and delete at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence still apply. Disputes go to the courts of Munich, to the extent permitted.
